SCHEDULING

EnterTech was developed for flexible delivery schedules. Whether offered through a high school, college or community-based organization, the 50-minute units can be organized for one, two, three or four hour sessions.

The recommended delivery scheduled is to offer EnterTech in a three-hour instructional block daily, fives times weekly, for three weeks total. You will find the Daily Guide within the Instructor’s Guide organized around this 3-hour block scheduling, with one full week devoted to Warehousing, the next to Materials Handling, and the third and final week for Materials Assembly. The Daily Guide is the most used section of the Instructor’s Guide, providing a step-through of all instructional activities.

While you may choose to lengthen the duration of the program, for example from three weeks to a 12-week semester schedule, please do not alter the sequence of tasks. EnterTech builds skills through progressive trials and multiple exposures to the performance objectives. The program presents skills in easy to challenging tasks, from simple to complex problem-solving scenarios, and sequentially move students from directed to self-directed work behaviors.

The program also contains student review periods for remediation, catch-up or enrichment activities. In the Daily Guide, you will see these labeled as "Review Days." During this time, a student can access their Review Screen and monitor their own progress through the curriculum, choosing to repeat online activities in which they’d like to improve performance or to re-experience decision points or tasks they found challenging. The instructor also can use these Review sessions to schedule guest speakers in the classroom, provide targeted group remediation, or accentuate the program with lessons on resume writing or job-hunting techniques, for example.

Some instructors augment the project-based activities with additional group work, while others encourage self-study time for students to work on the Personal Planners or Learning Resource Guide. One EnterTech instructor brought in special communications lessons for each Review day because she observed the group’s need to improve teaming skills. Another instructor scheduled a Human Resource director from a local company to speak each week about their hiring processes and job openings. Still, another instructor scheduled field trips to local manufacturing companies for tours and job shadowing.
