PROJECT HISTORY

The EnterTech Project is an innovative job skills training program developed by the IC2 Institute of the University of Texas at Austin, with funding from the Governor’s Office of the State of Texas, and grant administration provided by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The EnterTech Project was conceived to address several convergent issues:

  • the need for a skilled workforce available to fill the growing number of jobs in high-tech industry;
  • recognition that the economic future of Texas relies on the continued success and growth of its high-tech sector; and
  • the need to assist unemployed and under-employed Texans – namely welfare recipients, high school dropouts, teen parents, and displaced workers – who with proper training and supports can potentially fill the employment needs of high-tech industry.
