PEDAGOGY

Employer requirements, learner needs, and educational theory and practice guided instructional methodology and design. EnterTech is a learner-centered curriculum founded on constructivist (sometimes called situated learning) and cognitive learning theories.

Instructional techniques include project-based and problem-based learning, "just-in-time" remediation, scaffolding, mentoring, and individualized instruction.

The EnterTech curriculum and instruction are organized around the following eight learning areas:

1. Job Skills

Understanding of proper work attire; knowledge of employee handbook; familiarity with job responsibilities; understanding relationship to internal and external customers

2. People Skills

Ability to leverage personal strengths; demonstration of good work habits, positive attitude, working cooperatively; dealing positively with diversity; managing stress

3. Organizational Skills

Locating information and evaluating information; time management; use of business tools such as email, flowcharts, and word processing

4. Communication Skills

Listening, speaking clearly/concisely and following directions

5. Interpretation Skills

Basic workplace reading, writing, and interpreting graphics (maps, charts, gauges, etc)

6. Number Skills

Basic workplace addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and use of measurement

7. Strategy Skills

Using problem solving strategies, generating and evaluating solutions

8. Growth Skills

Planning for on-going learning, sharing learning with others, and awareness of learning styles.
