EnterTech instruction occurs
through real-world job tasks and problem-solving
scenarios. Through learn-by-doing activities,
students quickly transfer from knowing
to doing to integrating use of skills
on the job. There is immediate value imparted
to the learner. Rather than an abstraction
of skills use at the workplace, students
use explicit knowledge, skills and abilities
in context to the requirements and responsibilities
of work.
The EnterTech instruction
occurs within a narrative storyline that
places learners as "new hires"
in a fictitious technology manufacturing
company called EnterTech. As new hires,
the learners receive cross training in
company functions, including shipping
and receiving, materials handling and
materials assembly. Students interact
with virtual coworkers and supervisors,
receiving both instructions and feedback
from their virtual peers.
