Online Resource Center and
includes context-based help for online
tasks, extra interactive tutorials for
mathematical concepts, and skills development
practice for EnterTechs 44 performance
objectives. The resource center also includes
an electronic bulletin board system for
sharing information about jobs and support
services specific to local communities.
The Online Resource Center
provides the learner with additional resources
for learning and mastering skills. If
the learner is experiencing difficulties
in understanding how to complete a simulated
task, they can mouse-click on the link
to the Online Resource for more information,
including viewing the task overview again,
reading written directions on task procedures,
or looking up unknown vocabulary. Additional
"just-in-time" learning resources
are available when new math concepts are
introduced in a task. For example, when
reconciling invoices, students can select
a math tutorial on calculating percentages.
The Online Resource is a "smart"
help feature because the computer tracking
system branches the learners directly
to a help screen associated with their
current task. It also simulates a business's
internal communications system, called
an Intranet, on which employees can find
information quickly; job descriptions,
organizational chart and even OSHA guidelines
are available through the Online Resource.
Additional online tools such
as e-mail and an electronic bulletin board
are included too. These features are available
at a mouse-click and at the discretion
of the instructor to facilitate group
communication and problem solving. Both
the e-mail and bulletin board are internal
to your class group. It is not an "Internet-wide"
system. You can send private messages
via email or post group messages to the
bulletin board. The bulletin board is
an especially useful tool for posting
information about community resources
such as affordable child care places,
career fairs, etc.
