The Personal Planner is an
individualized learning resource to address
the intersections of personal life and
work. It includes activities designed
to help the learner define a support network
of friends, family and community resources,
learn to handle stress and raise self-confidence,
and plan for on-going learning. It also
contains important information about such
topics as money management, paychecks
and benefits, childcare and transportation.
Students complete the sections
within the Personal Planner as "homework"
exercises. Only a portion of the planner
is done in class as a group activity,
the Time & Money Management sections.
Since the Personal Planner belongs to
the learner and describes an individual
personality, you need not evaluate it
as part of student assessment. Instead,
encourage learners to use the Personal
Planner to bring life-experiences into
the classroom and transfer classroom-experiences
into the home and work life.
