STUDENT REFERRAL PROCESS

Referral IN | Prerequisites, Interest, and Motivation | Student Supports | Referral OUT

REFERRAL OUT

Upon successful completion of the EnterTech program, students are ready to move into employment and/or continuing education options. As with referrals into the program, outgoing students need to be provided with enough information about their options to make an informed decision. They also need to be prepared with the requisite resources and readiness to take this next step.

Before leaving class, each student should have:

  • a recorded personal growth plan and strategy in the Personal Planner;
  • Certificates of Completion for EnterTech team projects; and
  • an EnterTech Skills Transcript.

Students can create a portfolio with work samples from EnterTech, their certificates and skill transcript. They should include the other usual documents required when applying for employment or to an educational institution: cover letter, resume, references and recommendations. This combination of documentation is usable for many different jobs, industries, and communities. It provides a credible and portable skill profile of the learner.

BRIDGING SUCCESS TO THE NEXT STEP

You can help bridge learners’ program success to jobs or continuing education by:
  • ensuring one-stop career centers, community colleges, and community-based organizations are ready to work with your EnterTech students seeking employment or future training;
  • informing learners about GED centers, and other training or continuing education programs available in your community;
  • keeping employment want-ads and referral numbers handy for student use; and
  • seeking employer participation with your class and students.
